girlsway is so frustrating to me.

on the one hand: evelyn claire in her debut for the site! alina lopez, one of the top performers of the current era! a sweet member-submitted story about a relatively new relationship in which evelyn, scarred by an abusive ex, is afraid to do or say anything that will make alina mad, and alina, understanding that, is gentle and loving with her!

but then it all has to be run through the girlsway factory line, and just ends up kind of lame and awkward-looking. just compare the screen capture above with the ones i've pulled from other sites in recent posts: i didn't intentionally pick a dull, ungainly composition with an incoherent color scheme, this was just the best safe for work frame with both performers clearly in the shot i could find. maybe there are people who find the drab domesticity of this laundry/kitchenette set arousing; all i could think the whole time was "there's a bedroom with appropriate mood lighting right behind you, why are you fucking on this awkward piece of furniture under over-bright lighting with shitty appliances in the shot." the color temperature used by one of my primary nemeses in gamma's editing stable, zombie, overemphasizes yellows and reds, which makes alina's tan look jaundiced and evelyn's pallor look flushed. director craven moorehead has frequently shot great, visually inventive porn, but he's working according to the standard girlsway formula here, and there's no room for visual invention when you've got your monthly quota of minimally-acceptable porn to fill.

don't get me wrong: evelyn and alina do a superb job. evelyn has really impressed me with her acting abilities two scenes in a row now — her flinch when alina reaches out to comfort her is neither theatrically overdone nor awkward in the way so many porn performers are when they have to emote, and the impression she gives of holding back tears as alina loves on her is masterfully muted. and alina is a rock star: her tender sincerity could melt much stonier hearts than mine. the transition to sex is almost necessarily awkward, because again why use the laundry room when the bedroom is right there, but the editing that left the awkwardness in is more to blame than the performers. once the sex gets going, it's impossible to concentrate on anything but the gorgeous bodies and astonishing talents of two performers at the top of their game.

anyway, my bitching here is indicative of why i don't include more girlsway scenes in these reviews. this was one of my favorite girlsway scenes in the past few weeks, and it still frustrated me no end. i've seen them be better, i know they can do better; but the corporate strategy that chose high-volume production over high production values has doomed the brand aesthetically, even if it makes perfect business sense.
