happy february! i'm as surprised as you are that i'm still doing this. "you" being a fictional construct, since i look at the blog stats and i know no one but me has been clicking on these pages. and by "this" i mean writing about the newly released girl/girl porn scenes i like and want to highlight across the several subscription platforms i've paid for.
which is a hint as to why i'm writing about this scene, a "ii part 2," without having written about its predecessors. the first another life was a whitney wright two-parter released on missax.com; the first part is a tryst between angela white and skye blue, the second angela white and tommy pistol. the twist of the title is that at the end of the first part, another, rather creepier version of angela appears to her and tells her that she could have an entirely different life, in a rather devilish spin on it's a wonderful life. the first part was cross-posted to allherluv, because the sex is girl/girl, which is why i know anything at all about it; but i wasn't particularly taken with it except to admire whitney's narrative creativity. another life ii is all-girl; in part 1, eliza ibarra plays avi love's overbearing, self-centered roommate and on-again off-again lover as they move to a new city to start over after the unspecified trauma of chicago. eliza goes for a interview with charlotte stokely, and of course ends up fucking her in order to get the job. avi walks in on them, and runs away in horror.
eliza ibarra and charlotte stokely are both excellent performers, consummate professionals, gifted comic actors... and i've seen all i ever care to see of either. sometimes you just don't click with someone as a viewer, particularly when it comes to something as intimate as porn. it didn't help that whitney's script for their interaction struggled to be as snappy and sharp as it wanted to be: eliza as an entitled rich brat and charlotte as a standoffish bitch relishing her power over her was a strong premise, but it dragged circularly in execution. and then the sex was — well, they both put in work, i'll give them that.
so it was a relief to turn to part ii, which opens with avi having locked eliza out out of her bedroom, weeping moodily in bed and rebuffing eliza's alternate pleas and threats. another version of avi appears to her, claiming to be her conscience (whitney's fanciful cosmology as explained by avi to avi is a highlight; and avi love, the best actor in porn, pulls off the dual role better than angela white did) and giving her a chance to start over again with the one that got away: scarlett sage, in chicago.
avi wakes up, startled, at a bar next to scarlett, and has to immediately convince the bartender (whitney in a wig) not to cut her off. they proceed to have the same argument they did in the past, avi desperately trying not to creep scarlett out by how much more she knows now; but scarlett shakes her head and walks out. and past eliza walks in, notices how vulnerable avi is, and goes in for the kill. but avi can change the past! she runs after scarlett.
one simple, emotional declaration of love and contrition later, they are reunited, and proceed to have beautiful, romantic, passionate sex, scarlett several times expressing surprise at avi's intensity. part i was the first time i'd noticed whitney's cinematographer ex not in the credits of one of her scenes, and i thought i could detect his absence in some of the ungainly shots and awkward lighting. but there was no shortage of gorgeous lighting and camera work here. the post-production was also excellent, with rain sound effects thrown in to match avi's wet hair as she chases after scarlett, adding to the heightened emotion. the standard missax cameo filter is always unpleasant, but otherwise it's a stellar scene.
