but when a scene comes along that i just absolutely adore i feel like i have to post about it. the slow trickle of pre-quarantine shoots over the past six months had me feeling certain that mindgeek must be scraping the bottom of the barrel by now, but while i have nothing but contempt for the awkward and slapdash setup to this scene — maserati plays some woman on her way to yoga, kendra plays a flasher with a plastic dong who pervs on the wrong victim — once the sex gets underway it's remarkable.
a lot of that is due to kendra spade's performance. when she's engaged in a scene, there are few more passionate and dynamic performers; and her unfeigned enjoyment of maserati's body here is both heartwarming and, after a long stretch of scenes in which maserati has been paired with bored-seeming blondes, refreshing. and her enthusiasm is infectious; i don't think i've ever seen maserati as fully engaged in a girl-girl scene as she is in this, repeatedly initiating kissing and insisting on returning to kendra's pleasure as frequently as possible.
so even despite the fact that the scene features two of my least favorite fetishes, squirting and sex toys, it was a thorough delight. the color correction was remarkable too; whenever i paused it, each frame popped with such gorgeous skin tones that it almost didn't feel like porn. of course the camera work still left much to be desired, especially in the pre-sex setup, which was blandly and hastily shot, and the angles on the sex were dull and unimaginative. but they were at least clear; and the richness of the colors (mindgeek's signature eye candy) made up for a lot.
there are images from this scene that i won't forget for a long time. one of the magical flukes of porn-dom is that a scene which has no reason to be particularly good can be elevated sheerly through the strength of the performers' commitment to it. that, more than anything, is what keeps me coming back to this benighted and unadventurous artform.
