for my third year running this blog, i've decided to try to review one scene a month. regular visitors (ha ha ha) will have noticed that new posts only started popping up halfway through the year, even though they're dated to the release of the scenes. and this wasn't the first 2021 scene i've written about, although it's the first chronologically. but i like being able to look back over a month's output and choose which of the scenes released that month stood out to me. sometimes more than one did, but whether or not i end up reviewing more than one will have more to do with my stamina than their quality. the year-end roundup will, as ever, be the place for my fullest thoughts on the year's output.

at any rate, it's worth noticing that this is the first time any new sensations product has appeared on either this blog or its predecessor. the reason for that is quite simple: there was a gap of more than two years between new sensations' 2018 chunk of girl/girl releases and their return to the format in late 2020. i did not cover any of their late 2020 output, because none of it struck me as particularly distinguished. but the resurgence of the "the lesbian experience" sub-brand in early 2021 was intriguing, and i was particularly attracted by this scene with veteran natasha nice and newcomer alyx star.
the necessary flimsy premise of the scene — alyx wants natasha's opinion on her outfits, so natasha watches her undress — is given some actual woman-to-woman verisimilitude, as natasha helps alyx realize that she's wearing too small a bra for her size, and there's even halfway intelligent dialog moving into the sex. which shouldn't be such a rarity, but it's pleasant when it happens. but make no mistake, the main event is where most of the attraction of the scene is. natasha's been at it for more than a decade, so it's not surprising that she holds up her end of the passion, but alyx is a marvel, delighted and grateful and flushed with heat. i've seen her with other partners since and it doesn't quite live up to this, which indicates either that her chemistry with natasha was real or that director eddie powell is a wizard.
because of the dearth of girl/girl from new sensations, i haven't had much of a chance in these pages to admire powell's crafstmanship, which is stellar. natural lighting, a roving camera that intensifies rather than wandering away from the passion, elegant but unobtrusive set design, and even working with the handicap of a mirror in the room all make him a master pornographer that i want to see much more from. it's unfortunate that the idioms new sensations seems to currently favor — either younger/older pairings or toy-heavy gonzo — are not my favorite; and primarily featuring black women with straightened hair is a red flag for me.
but the gleeful energy and simultaneity of this natasha/alyx scene is the kind of thing i'd sit through a lot of dreck to encounter again. they even managed to make extensive breast play and rimming not boring.
