i've had a love-eyeroll relationship with all her luv's material for a while now. ever since ricky greenwood left sweetheart video and made all her luv his primary outlet for girl/girl (he still works with some of mile high's other brands, as well as a few other sites), it's been extremely consistent, but missing the loopy energy that first drew me to it under missa x's d.i.y. hand, not to mention the brief period when talented performers like whitney wright and serena blair were given carte blanche to bring their own creative visions to life. now there are never any more brilliant standalone scenes or two-parters at all her luv, just endless churns of four-part serials (for the waning dvd market? really?) that feel exhausting to me. i don't want a "to be continued" in porn, i love porn in part because it's shortform filmmaking.

still, there are things that will get me to click. one of them is evelyn claire. another (in a later installment in the series) is cecilia lion. add in sabina rouge and lena anderson (also in later installments, although lena shows up in the nonsex story portion here), and fine i'll watch your dumb dramedy, greenwood. maddy burton's script is smarter and less embarrassing than most porn scripts, but whitney wright and kayden kross remain the only porn writers who have delivered an entire script i never cringed at once. the premise is the usual schlock: evelyn is a repressed young woman visiting free-wheeling california for the summer to make a study of lesbianism: her roommate lena, who boasts of her lesbianism, promises to introduce her to willing subjects of study. the first is scarlit, who brushes off evelyn's attempts to interview her in favor of a more hands-on approach.
so much for the story. the actual sex was very good: both evelyn and scarlit have impressed me in the past, and this was up to their high standard. the filmmaking was classy but pro forma: greenwood's preference for underlighting (plus the standard missax dourness filter) even made it visually unappealing at times, difficult to do with the beauties in question. the sex also ran a bit long (i almost always think it does), with a few too many positions in awkward poses to be believable as evelyn's first time, but the performers made it work.
i haven't watched the subsequent chapters yet, and i don't know that i'll write them up here if and when i do. i fully admit that it's not exactly fair to post a middling review of only one part of a four-part story, but it's also a compliment that this was the scene for march i decided was worth writing about. maybe i'll figure out how to structure a multi-part review in a single post eventually; if not, stay tuned for the year-end roundup, i guess.
