my pick to write about for july was immediately obvious as soon as i saw it scheduled on twistys' site. (twistys suddenly has an upcoming section, which is an unexpected delight; the treats of the month are still a surprise, but i get to see what else is coming up in the next month or so.) demi sutra has firmly established herself as one of mindgeek's top performers, and seeing her paired with hazel grace, who has been in the industry for a while but who i mostly recognize from being one of the rare performers on performer-centric platforms like manyvids who puts out girl/girl material with premises, was instantly promising.
outdoor settings are always tricky because the filmmakers have no control over the lighting, but director stella smut (holly randall's one-time assistant, who has taken on much of her workload during randall's maternity leave, and has access to randall's experienced and extremely professional crew) works wonders simply by letting the sun backlight the perfomers, highlighting their natural hair and letting reflectors light their gorgeous skin tones from the front. the natural lighting means that close-ups catch dust particles and even insects in the sun's highlights, but so long as the performers don't seem uncomfortable (and they're both extremely professional throughout), it only adds to the charming verisimilitude.
the premise is as slight as usual: demi is a horny gardener, hazel is a nursery employee bringing over some plants, demi invites her to take a load off, and so to business. the sex vacillates between believable and completely looney tunes (it's a mindgeek production in the year 2021, what do you expect), but both women are highly committed and as genuinely into it as it's possible to be: demi even produces physical evidence of a kind still rare in porn scenes. the vibrancy of the photography would make up for a lot even if the performances were less engaged, but i've respected demi and hazel for a while and now i admire them even more.
