i've discussed the mixedx site before, so i won't repeat myself except to say that they had an interesting run in 2022, pumping out enough scenes to go weekly for a number of months before dropping back down to a monthly upload schedule. christina shine paid close attention to the feedback she got on adult time and the newly gamma-powered mixedx site, and has accordingly focused on the spit-swapping and foot fetish material that made her work stand out from the other girl/girl on adult time; although neither of those do anything in particular for me, i appreciate the dramatic intensity of her scripts and her cinematographer's muted, grainy palette enough that i made a point to check out whatever they were doing.

and my interest was rewarded when zaawaadi, my favorite europe-based performer of recent years, made an appearance on the site. nobody else has shot her as gorgeously as zsolt abraham does here, and i appreciated the fatc that she wasn't paired with one of the rail-thin models mixedx favors but christina shine herself, whose more generous, traditional pornstar proportions echo zaawaadi's genetic thickness. the premise of the scene, which has zaawaadi, wearing golden jewelry, dominating a servile christina with excellently tender thoroughness, is only made clear at the end, when christina stops being submissive and snaps at zaawaadi to take off her jewelry, reminding her that she's only a maid.
which works as an abrupt snap out of the fantasy i'd been immersed in and also as a (possibly unintentional) brutal reminder of who it is that actually holds power in the racial hierarchies that structure global society, and from which the porn industry can be no lasting reprieve. but the fantasy of reversal, a black woman dominating a white woman (and, metatextually, a model dominating the scene director and owner of the website), is potent enough to add a real kick to some ravishing visuals and very solid performances.
my only criticism, and i'm not sure it even is one, is the near-constant chirping of a bird in the background; not the multivocalic birdsong of an open window, but the sounds of a caged bird trilling and squawking in a nearby room. maybe it was intentional, a sonic disturbance like the high-tension music that opens the scene, and a subliminal reminder of the natural world that the racialized titular evocation of "jungle" tropes gestures toward; maybe it was simply an accidental feature of the filming location. but it was unsettling enough to knock a few poitns off of editing. still the best mixedx scene i've seen yet.
