i structured the entire year's worth of coverage on this blog around this release. because i knew this was coming up, i haven't set aside other girlsway, ana foxxx, or siri dahl scenes to write about, let alone any of the other four we like girls scenes that have been released this year, each one of which i watched as soon as it dropped. charlotte sins choosing aiden ashley was an excellent scene for the return of the series, and serene siren's choice of ember snow as partner was one of the first times i ever felt like serene and i were on the same page. spencer bradley choosing jane wilde and april olsen choosing kira noir were both unsurprising if perfectly lovely instances of porn's new it girls going for established stars who are at the level they aspire to; but this, which i'd known was coming since bree mills posted a couple of behind-the-scenes clips on her tiktok back in august, was already in the running for my scene of the year sight unseen.

i've made no secret of the fact that ana foxxx is my favorite working porn star, and has been for almost a decade. siri dahl had also impressed me in her first run in porn, around the same time that ana debuted, but i'd never made a point of keeping up with her until she returned last year with a breast reduction and a grown woman's attitude towards her scene partners. i trust both of them to be authentic and considerate, and because they are both north of thirty, to have sex in they way that they most enjoy and to know what they're doing with each other's bodies.
what i didn't expect was for them to both be so verbal throughout. apparently some viewers dislike that in girl/girl porn, because they think it indicates a lack of passion, but as far as i'm concerned, bodies are only about a tenth as erotic as the right words can be, and the sweetly engaged and hilarious conversation they made while discovering each other's bodies was exactly the kind of thing that i'm always wishing for and rarely finding in porn: authentic connection, a meeting of minds as much as of bodies, and communication that doesn't stop being sexy just because it's light and pleasant.
on a technical level, michael vegas' and steve matts' work is not quite as mobile or inquisitive as craven moorehead's and matt binder's back in the original series, and editor angelo poirier's clean, professional color grading isn't as striking as the gauzy look clit eastwood gave to the first run; but it's not going to be 2019 again for anyone (and good riddance to moorehead at least). and bree mills taking ana's reference to looking forward to playing rock-paper-scissors as being about the schoolyard game rather than a cute way of referring to girl/girl sex was yet another indication that the industry is still heavily lacking in cultural competency when it comes to its black performers.
but i can't remember the last time i spent the entirety of a porn scene smiling so widely. maybe lena paul and ivy lebelle's we like girls; despite how much has changed in the industry since then, this series remains appointment viewing for me. i will never understand people who hate it when women laugh in porn; if you're not happy when you're having sex, when can you be?
it was a scene ten years in the making, since that's how long siri and ana have been circling around each other in the industry without ever working together. what could have been, if dana vespoli had cast them in a sweetheart video scene, nica noelle had cast them in a girl candy scene, or someone at filly had put them together... but they wouldn't have been nearly as comfortable or assured, and might have had to get through some awful premise first. we like girls, letting them be as goofy, as sweet, and as genital-focused as they want to be (ana surprising both siri and herself with how quickly she dove between siri's legs was adorable), will always have my gratitude for letting me share this hour with them.
